With a background in Native American culture as the impetus for the interest, we have catered to a niche market (big, global niche market) that uses these glass, metal, crystal beads primarily for American Indian and mountain man outfits. During this time, we have used larger and larger volumes of beads, directly importing many to meet the demand of the thousands of dealers we supply. From the smallest Czech, French, German or Japanese seed beads, to larger pony, bugle, crow or other necklace beads, to fancy trade beads, we offer variety in size and color to satisfy a broad demand for beads in the general crafts market.

Strung and Loose Wholesale Pony Beads

Beads in the early fur trade were an important commodity because they were in great demand and easily packed and transported. Pony beads were first introduced to Indians by French explorers in the early 17th Century and were immediately popular and well suited for use in decorating Indian garments. Great for early period beadwork, necklaces, and other ornaments. Basically a large seed bead, pony beads were introduced to the Native American trade before seed beads. Some sources say these beads got their name because they were transported by traders on ponies (but other sources dispute this). Pony beads are typically found in sizes 5/0 and 8/0. The 8/0 is the most commonly used size, for the same purposes as seed beads but the work is obviously not as fine
