American Indian Institute: The University of Oklahoma College of Continuing Education
The American Indian Institute was established at the University of Oklahoma in 1951 as a non-profit Indian service, training, and research organization. The Institute is a department within Continuing Education Community Programs, a division within the College of Continuing Education.
Open-admission, community based, comprehensive, tribally controlled community college and land grant institution designed to provide affordable, quality educational opportunities to residents of the Northern Cheyenne reservation and surrounding communities.
College of the Menominee Nation

Haskell Indian Nations University
Haskell Indian Nations University (HINU) is the premiere tribal university in the United States, offering quality education to Native American students. Haskell’s student population averages about 1000 per semester, and all students are members of federally recognized tribes. Haskell’s faculty and staff is predominantly native, and our historic campus is centrally located in Lawrence, KS, offering Associate and Bachelors degrees.
Institute for American Indian Arts
Fine arts college dedicated to the study and practice of the culture of American Indians and Alaska native peoples.
Little Big Horn College is located in Crow Agency, the capital of the Crow Indian Reservation. Little Big Horn College is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities at the community college level. The college achieved initial accreditation in 1989, and has maintained full accreditation since that time. Accreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities is not partial but applies to the institution as a whole.
Nebraska Indian Community College
Nebraska Indian Community College serves the Omaha and Santee Sioux at campuses in Nebraska and Iowa. The Nebraska Indian Community College has been and remains dedicated to planting the seeds of knowledge through unique and culturally relevant educational experiences. These experiences are geared toward all Umonhon(Omaha), Isanti (Santee Dakota), and other learners attending classes at one of our three campuses. NICC is open to all who are willing to enhance and improve their lives.
The Oglala Lakota College provides educational opportunities that enhance Lakota life, including community services, certificates, GED, and associate, bachelor, and graduate degrees. Our vision is to rebuild the Lakota Nation through education. This vision statement has highly influenced the growth and purpose of Oglala Lakota College throughout the years. We believe that through education, we will be able to provide resources to rebuild the Lakota nation and increase the amount and quality of resources available to the people of the Lakota reservations.

Sinte Gleska College was granted a charter by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe in 1971. In February, 1992, Sinte Gleska College officially, through a special Lakota Ceremony became Sinte Gleska University. Continued accreditation by the North Central Association was granted in 1992. Did you know that you can enroll at Sinte Gleska University without a high school diploma? All you need is a G.E.D. certificate. Don’t have a G.E.D.? You can earn one at Sinte Gleska’s Adult Basic Education program. It is free to everyone over 18 years of age.
Sisseton Wahpeton Community College
SWCC was chartered by the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Tribe in 1979 and provides Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees in selected fields of study. SWCC is a member of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium and is accredited by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges. Website includes history of tribe & virtual library.
Turtle Mountain Community College
Turtle Mountain Community College was founded in 1972 with a mission of “focusing on general studies, undergraduate education, Career and Technical Education, scholarly research, and continuous improvement of student learning in which the cultural and social heritage of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa is brought to bear throughout the curriculum”. TMCC is nestled within the boundaries of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indian Reservation. Our main college site provides a breathtaking view of the beauty of our reservation. TMCC is located three miles north of Belcourt and nearly 8 miles south of the Canadian border, near the beautiful International Peace Gardens. TMCC has the honor of being one of the six founding members of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium.
United Tribes Technical College
United Tribes Technical College is committed to providing individuals and families with vocational-technical and educational services that perpetuate the success of all people. Located just four miles south of Bismarck, N.D., students at United Tribes Technical College enjoy the benefits of city life, but study on a small campus with a strong sense of community.
